replacing the bulb in the Auto Gear selector area

My Mrs has twisted my arm and got her name on the car insurance :(

The bulb in the gear selector has never worked.

She is moaning that she cant see what gear the cars in :(

Can anyone tell me how i replace the bulb to shut her up :B_thumb:

Also what sort of bulb is it in there ?

Hi Lee, I am not sure on the total job but first you will have to take the centre console out which is surprisingly easy.

Undo the two bolts inside the centre glovebox, then take out 2 screws at the front.
One of the screws is where the ciggy lighter is and the other one is around the coin tray or under the OBD cover.

You can now take out the front tray. this will reveal a couple more bolts to undo

There will be a load of connectors to undo and slide out the OBD connector.

I have an intermittent light in my gear selector so I tried to investigate when I had the centre console out to fit electric winows. To be honest it looked a bit fiddly and at the time I had the car outside and daylight against me.

With the centre console out you can probably figure it out but I am sure someone will be along shortly with all of the answers. :)

My gearbox light has just gone as well , so i would be very interested to know how difficult it is the change the bulb.

I havent changed the bulb yet but i did change the gear selector which involved taking out the center console, 6 screws or bolts, thats it see here ....

Good luck mate, but really you wont need it if your fairly handy with a ratchet and a torque bit.

Its really easy.

Tell her to feel where the right gear is.....If starting off , hold the button in and whack to the bottom (low) and nail it away , then go up on to (3) and then the next one is 'drive', When she parks one up is neutral' (no holding in the button) and hold button and up again is 'reverse'

She only has to hold the button in to select below drive or reverse......

Even Stevie Wonder can drive an auto.....
