sc-901 stereo code

Hi all, ive just been given a sc-901 stereo for my v70r, it asks for a code ive searched the net for a code calculator but cant find one for this stereo. will i have to get it programed to my car. cheers Adam

If it's anything like the SC805C head units, the code is set by volvo when it's made and stored on a database Volvo can access. As far as I know you can't reprogramme it with another code.

I was able to get the code for mine by ringing my local Volvo dealer and giving them the serial no. on the top of the unit. I was lucky tho- they did it for free :), most stealers will probably want you to bring it in and charge you for unlocking it. Give it a try though, you might get them to give you the code for nowt...

You'll need to explain it's not original to the car, cos they normally will just ask you for your reg and check the database from that, unless you know the reg of the car it's come out of?
