Valve cover...

Hello There,
Under the valve cover there is a black tube that runs back down between the fuel pump etc... This is now split and of course needs replacing... What is this tube for??? & is it normal that this part of the engine head is so HOT...

Under the black spark plug cover? The only black pipe I can think of the kind of fits your description is the one that feeds down into the top of the oil separator hidden behind the alternator. It sounds like your PCV system needs a bit of attention.

yeah it sounds very much like the top pipe to the pcv system
