The V70 T5 P2 has been at the mechanic's having the ABS pump replaced.

The mechanic has just rang me and said he wasn't able to bring my car back today because of a problem.

He said "if it were a manual, it's like the clutch is slipping"

Being an auto, I reckon this could be problematic. Anyone got any ideas?

problem with the torque converter?

I took it in on Wednesday, the gearbox was perfect. No knocks, clunks, nothing. Smooth as a perverbial.

What I can't understand is how a "gearbox" problem can arise from an ABS pump problem, I would have though that they were totally independent.

First job tomo mate. I'm going round first thing. Check ATF and codes.

If all else fails I'll get him to put the old pump on and see of that sorts it (!).

Then take it to a fella I've since heard of who is ex-Volvo and now independent in the next village along from me (doh!).

I still don't know myself mate lol!

Grinding not present when STC is switched off. Mechanic has taken several readings of data whilst driving the car and generating the noise. Latest thoughts are that it may be drawing too much voltage???

As soon as I find out I will let you know.
