As im probably going to be getting an S60 sometime in the near future what are peoples general opinion on the Evolve S60 bodykit:

http://www.evolvecars.com/site/index.php?id=99,62,0,0,1,0 ?

I do like the back bumper alot, im not sure on the sideskirts but I dont like the front bumper just wondering what other peoples opinions on this kit are?

the complete kit is just stunning, but look at those prices :jaw:

I didnt think the prices were bad considering its going to be a low volume bodykit!

But it will cost a fortune in shipping charges.

Think I'll start putting my prices up being as they're charging over $700 for a front bumper, bloody hell thats dear.

Im not sure what the exchange rates work out at but if the quality is their I dont think about £350 is a silly amount for a low volume front bumper if its top notch. I paid about £320 for a front bumper for my astra when I had that, it was the first in the country and made the car literally so was well worth it.

dont do it!, dont ruin a great looking car(s60R), it just looks like the chav boys have been at it again, looks like total crap to me, i wouldn't even bother with volvo's own chav kit

Dave I dont like the front bumper which I think is OTT however the back bumper is an improvement but im not sure about the sides.

Its a rare situation were the standard bumper the R one looks much better than the aftermarket ones, it would probably look much better without all of that silver mesh but still a bit boy racer.

that silver mesh looks like fine chicken fencing, so cheap looking, chav boys!

I like the Evolve kits particularly the way they have sorted out the back light cluster which was always my least fav part of the S60.

I dont think they are chav - they are quite subtle IMHO - and would be very unique in the UK.

I likes it a lot! its just a shame that they dont do anything for the 850 :frown: I dont think it's chavvy at all - for a start its not a shopping trolley!!

Go for it I'd say (Once you have the s60 of course LOL) its nice to be a little different!

Dont worry murphy it will definately be the R model!

dave I do agree the front bumper is OTT and the mesh doesnt suit but even still its definately not chav!

dave
Tuesday 3rd May 2005, 18:46
you guys!

if you bought a aston martin db9, would put body kits on it?

i hope the answer is no!

one of the reasons i bought a s60 r, cos of its sleath nature, wolf in sheeps clothing, etc

put that any body kit on, and its all ruined!, here's comes the local chav machine!, lol

After_Shock
Tuesday 3rd May 2005, 18:59
I woudlnt alter a DB9 because I couldnt realistically find anything to improve on it and nothing would be available, a DB7 however has a better front end than the DB9 but has a much worse back end so I would change the lights as aftermarket ones are available.

An S60 is very stealth and the front end is right, the back end however is standard with every other S60 and the sides arent anything out of the ordinary so I would do the kit but only the bits I like and take the badges off the car so it retains the stealth effect.

The S60 R compared to an M5 or an RS6 is very ordinary, the M5 and RS6 are obviously different but retain the stealth image and definately dont come into a chav class!

I can see where Dave is coming from. I personally don't agree, but there is that sleeper aspect to preserve.

I still want A_S to get the R and kit it out!

Dave if things turn out right at work I will hopefully have an R in the next couple of months and probably have it nearly finished early next year, if things turn out right and if the right car turns up, but thats based on a few big 'IFs'!

The other problem being the S60 R's main competitor as my next car, the Monaro VXR, if they continue to depreciate quicker than a Rover 75 V8 Auto I may get one of those instead!

On Autotrader at the moment:

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/cars_search.asp?modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&make=VOLVO&model=S60&variant=awd&keywords=&min_pr=75&max_pr=&mileage=&agerange=&postcode=ts26+0px&miles=1500&max_records=50&source=0&photo=1&sort=3&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH

Top car is basically ideal for what im after but I cant afford it at the moment so thats appeared a bit too soon which is annoying as I know only flash green ones will be available when im ready to get one!

Wheres becklands?

The more places their is to find them the better!

Their was a 53reg Flash green manual one on autotrader about 2months back for 16k but had covered 43k in the 2 years it was on the road.

The cheaper they get the better!

Becklands is the big Volvo dealers in Brum. It is on the main drag - on the A38 near the city centre. Here is mine parked outside (looking at it's new baby brother)

Beckland Motor Company
Monaco House

Thats good with them being a Volvo dealership, once they teach me how to do nationwide searches for used cars on the computer system at work I should be able to get access to all theirs used cars and see what they have in, surprising how much stuff we have in at work that doesnt appear on autotrader.

Then I can get started on the second gen Volvo project :rainfro:

Not that keen on the flash green but for under 20k - I think I could live with it.

Aftershook - your car choice is similar to mine. I fancy an S60R and may go for one towards the end of the year, so I'm interested in what owners think of theirs i.e. are they much quicker than a T5 ? Figures suggest they are...

I am also thinking of a Monaro or a V70R as I don't want to give up the estate...so comparisons by anyone would be great!!

Keep us/me up to date as I'd love to know what you end up doing

After_Shock
Wednesday 4th May 2005, 23:13
It will all come down to money at the end of the day and whats what price at the time im ready.

With the monaro's I really would like the newer 6litre LS2 version which is brand new out so I cant see them being cheap enough till next year at least so the chances are it will be the S60 R.

I dont think the monaro's are very practical so you might have to end up getting both a V70 R and the monaro!
