Speak to Don, he is quite reasonably priced on rods. Also have a look on the Bay.

Sorry Pete, you asked me didn't you?, I've been told not to bother with the ones from Asia as they're crapola.

China Rods are pretty strong. I know of some in some high powered Fords and they are the only reliable part. Yes speak to Don at Kalmar as his prices are great going by his comments over on another forum. I'll be getting mine from him when moneys available.

the question wasn't if anyone else had their rods done (so don't see how that's relevant??) - although to answer your irrelevant question, no I haven't - the OP was asking for places to buy them.. going by various other members experiences who have had them done on VS - I posted the links..

not sure why you find this so offensive Warren? and not sure where T5D5 or Don figure in this??:shhh:

I wondered if you'd had your rods done cos you seemed to have just googled 'con rods for the volvo t5'.. ..why buy them from abroad when they are readily available from the uk...SP rods was/were the only ones you could get up till a couple of years ago..and the THS/DON rods are almost exactly the same... as the post said where's the BEST place to buy these..

Just goes to show what they say about assumptions is true then ..

And if the OP asks for a question relating to where the "BEST" place is to buy them.. then that's always going to be subjective. I posted the links because I had heard good things about them on VS - There's no reason why people should shy away from buying parts from abroad - I buy parts from all over the world and have done for a while. I tend to go with the the places that have the best price and the best rep, regardless of where they are located.. which to me seems like common sense?

Niles also posted a link to conrods on ebay.. are you not going to shoot him down as well for suggesting somewhere other than Don? :P

?? cannot be bothered ?? lol!! but it was you that posted up in response to my post in the first place? - as if I had caused great offence to you? - you then incorrectly assumed I had "googled conrods for a t5 engine" when it's actually something I've done a fair bit of reading on whilst browsing VS in the past.. (as at one stage I had a knocking noise coming from my car which I thought might have been a bent conrod) -false alarm thankfully! :) ...

I'm not agreeing on anything other than you were wrong and you made yourself look like a plum in this thread! lol!.. :B_thumb:

Thanks PANGSTER . Is that wideband on the LG Speed something special or would any one from my tuning retailer do the job ? And is it possible to install the new conrods from under car w/out engine removal ? [ Or did i dream that up ]

Steady on eh:)

Volvolised, there's nothing wrong with Pangster posting up his own opinion here... he doesn't have to agree with you. Anyway, when I'm buying stuff, I like to know that there's more than one source! Always good for the consumer... although buying from the UK is indeed much easier and often cheaper as you say.

Exactly Al. More to the point this site has been critisised in the past for being one sided when it comes to tuning cars with or without rods. A little variety is the only way forward :)

The wideband module on the LG Speed site is for the AIM dash so it can display the AFR parameter.. which not many people have (as it costs around £1500! lol!)

more common/popular options for wideband gauges seem to be:

Innovate:
http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/MTS.php

AEM:
http://www.aempower.com/ViewCategory.aspx?CategoryID=67

I guess it depends how accurate you need it and whether you need data logging capabilities etc. I think i'll get one at some point to fit in my din panel under my stereo - no point just now though as my car is pretty much stock at the minute.

Regarding changing your rods - you can do it with the engine in situ by removing the head and dropping the sump. I had a link to a thread explaining/giving an overview of the process - I'll try and find it when I get home.
