Hasnt caused much problems just keep reseting the MIL now and again but the dreaded MOT is due soon so really need to sort it by then so has anyone got a Cat for a P1 MY99 V70R AWD(265bhp model) or knows where i can lay my hands on one.

Why not put it through the Mot as it may not be knacked?

If the cat fails then you shouldnt have to pay any re-test fees (maybe
50% depending on testing station) if you replace it & take the car back
within 14 days.

Pointless exercise actually. If you have your MOT done early and the car fails, it automatically invalidates the remaining time on your old MOT, lots of people don't realise this.

Not being funny, I assume you know the CAT is actually part of the downpipe, to just replace the CAT requires the old one being cut out from the DP and a replacement welded (or v-banded) in?

P1 V70R Exhaust and Cat are very good quality so it maybe worth looking at a second hand one? Good Volvo breakers will guarantee the part.

Try the following link for a quote: www.partsgateway.co.uk

Put in your vehicle details and your requirements will be sent to all of the specialist Volvo breakers.

A new DP and CAT from Volvo is about £600.

I had to replace mine under Volvo warranty at about 50K, car has now done 112K

Thanks for advice,

Yes im aware the cat and downpipe are as one and i know the main stealers want £700 but as im a good customer they will knock it down to £600!!!

I will try the Partsgateway website, have tried them before for a coil pack for the wifeys old Audi, with not much luck, but you dont know until you give it a try.

What kind of price am i looking gor for a 'turbo back' zaust system. Remember ive already sold a lung to buy the car in the first place!!!

Thanks again,

Mark.

You should be able to get a complete turbo back exhaust system in stainless steel for around £5-600 from a reputable dealer/manufacturer. You may even be able to get it much cheaper if you import one from the states. I imported my turbo back V70 T5 exhaust and it totaled to about £370ish.

Excuse me of my nievity but what is a cat back exhaust? and what improvements in performance do they apply?

Cheers, Lee

A cat back exhaust if aftermarket performance type, will have a reduction in back pressure in turn letting the gasses escape quicker.

But his problem is that the CAT is knackered so a CAT Back will not give him the CAT he needs?

I answered in reply to a question in this thread, please read it again. I also posted earlier in the thread about a Turbo back exhaust system.

I hope you get the exhaust sorted by the way.

Didn't mean to sound critical and yes you are right. I just didn't want our friend going down any blind alleys when a cat back system is clearly not what he needs right now.
