I need to bleed the bloody brakes after fitting the new pads.

Standard Dot4 synthetic or do I need some crazy expensive spangly stuff with ground up angel wings and dragon dust?

If bleeding you shouldn't need to replace it but probably a good idea to do a complete change anyway as brake fluid absorbs water over time, which reduces the boiling point and you get fade.

If you use your car normally, ie no track days, DOT 4 synthetic will be fine.
