hi peeps! just thought id share something with everyone :) right, basically, i used to own a 1998reg (99model) v70 t5, and it was superchipped. it was fast dont get me wrong!

But, i have just bought a stock 98 c70 t5 gt last month, and at first it felt more slugish to the turbo than my old chipped v70. probly because of the chip right?? anyway, as soon as the turbo on my c70 kicks in, it pulls much harder than the v70 ever did!! as far as i know, the c70 is stock (i know its a lighter car etc etc, but there's such a difference!)

i was told that the 2 cars have varied engines??? in that the 98reg (99model) v70 has a smaller turbo, but vvt??? and my current early 98 c70, has a larger turbo and thats probly the diffrence????

side by side, both engine bays look the same! lol i would be very greatful if anyone has anymore info on this please??? and would my current stock c70 respond well to a chip and other mods without upseting the ecu?? cheers guys!!! :)

Yes the '99 engines do have vvt, not sure about the turbos though

AFAIK C70s all have the 16T turbo, as do most of the 70 series (phase 1).

thinking that the 99 cars have vvt and the same turbo, the bhp would be slightly higher???

I went over to my local superchips dealer, and he said that my car would have to have an actual chip soldered into the ecu. unlike more modern plug n play chips :( any idea if rica or mte would have to go down the same route??? oh - and he said it would cost £400 fitted. thats about average price yeah??? with an approx 30bhp gain, wasnt sure on the torque figures?

Isn't Hamish from V.T. doing the rica upgrade for £150 at the moment for the older 850's and C70's?

MTE remap for a pre-ME7 is £325 at the moment and no soldering required.

The "RICA" that HLM are selling off cheap are for 850's only I think (Motronic 4.3?), a 98 C70 should be 4.4

what sort of power gain should i expect from a mte remap? 30 - 40 bhp ish like a normal chip??? how do they do it without soldering the chip then??? i spose some programs are suited to the 98's ecu????
