Hi guys

Re: 2001/51 D5 Electrical fault

I started having the engine not start randomly last Wednesday, thought it was the battery so changed it but it still happened.

It was very intermittent and had nothing to do with whether the engine was warm or cold. Very frustrating.

AA bloke finally solved it, it was the spade connector on the starter motor which is in front of the block!!

££££in annoying when my Dad & I had removed and cleaned up every connector from the battery in the rear to the engine bay and all the earths!!

Just a tip in case it happens to any of you guys - symptoms are charged battery all ICE and lights work but when you go to crank the engine up, nothing happens or you get only a very faint click.

Remedy: cut off old connection at end of the wire where it meets the spade connector on the starter motor, renew connection and clean up spade connector on starter motor - reconnect and job done.

Cheers for the tip Dave..its a well known issue with that ruddy connector.

Ah fair enough then, would rather say it and it not be necessary than not say it at all :)
