hi i hav a c70 its a 2.0 turbo made in 2000 and i am about to buy a t5 turbo for it the details are as follows copied from seller: You are looking at a perfect working order 15g turbo with a flat flange. It was removed from 96 model 850 T5. It was in perfect working order and did not smoke or use any oil. There is little if any play in the shaft of the turbo. I gave it a quick wipe over and you can see from the photo that it is good condition to look at aswell as mechanically. It will come with the actuator as pictured. For those who are not looking at this as a replacement part but as an enhancement it has a T3 flange, 63mm compressor inlet and 54mm compressor outlet. There are no cracks on the wastegate or anywhere else on the turbine housing.

please tell me if i can put it on my 2.0 baby and make her fly even more? i understand i might need to upgrade and modify some other parts as well but will it be possible or worth the hassle, im no mechanic by any means but i love the car so much i wanna treat her to the renound t5 turbo preferably without damaging her please any help is better than none. thanks in advance.

It would probably be cheaper (and considerably easier!) to sell the 2.0 and buy a C70 T5 with the proceeds. The difference in price between what you sell for and what the T5 would cost is probably going to cost less than trying to make the 15G work with your engine. That's assuming the turbo can be made to work with the 2.0 (which from memory is a high compression engine).

just checked my logbook and it says its lpt which is light compression turbo so that probably means it wont work right? i have spent so much on this c70 and its really quick and looks amazing plus its great on fuel, i dont think i could sell it as its the best car iv ever owned and it turns so many heads. i tell everyone its a t5 anyway as the performance justifies it but i would love it to be true!

yeah damn serious i bet my 2.0litre will piss all over your big heavy 2.4! mines got 252bhp 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and top speed of 157mph but a bigger turbo would make me even quicker i am aiming for 300bhp+ by xmas with a budget of 2k

you mean 2.3 surely.. :finger:

and it doesn't matter what performance you've got.. it's still not a T5 - so saying that is a little retarded.. :wtf: and so is coming out with comments like

proper power eats the gt's for breakfast scoobies have no chance and evo's get raced for free!

why don't you share what mods you have and maybe stick up a dyno plot?

i'm interested to see how you've added 89 bhp and shaved 2.5 seconds off your 0-60 and what did you say your torque was?..

EDIT: and FWIW the 15G was never used on the C70 T5 - it was a 16T..

2 bottles of what? Pepsi?.. :cuckoo:

i'd be quite content with just seeing the dyno slips and details of your mods.. maybe as well as explaining how you timed your 0-62?..

i've found the beast - aka T5, Scooby and Evo slayer :hilarious:

my volvo c70 2.0 turbo with p.t.s superchip and remap now standing @252bhp top speed of 152mph and i haven't even started with any other mods yet but watch this space...

you need to tell us more about the pts superchip because it seems like it's the best kept secret in the volvo tuning world.. i for one only assumed that our choice was fairly limited with MTE, BSR, RICA and the like..

and given you haven't started with any other mods.. then if you're running 2 bottles of NOS in the boot you must be a bit over the 252 bhp you already had?.. what NOS system were you running again? (wet/dry) and what were the size of jets you're using?.. :hilarious

in all seriousness this has been one of the funniest threads i've read in a long time..:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

truth is chaps iv got a **** 2.0 turbo standard engine that quicker than anything iv ever driven it has been chipped by pts and was at one stage in its life 252bhp but its not now and im just gutted cos i cant afford a 2.3 after spending all my money on expensive lights and wheels for the lower performance c70. it looks the part and is very quick and genuinly goes 157mph but a scooby wrx nails me on acceleration until i hit 3rd gear then i can keep up and catch. i so wish i had the bigger better engine i am stupid enough to race anything and i often over talk the car so youve every reason to laugh but i love the car so much and i push it to the limit everyday and it hasnt let me down in 8 months without being serviced, so call me what you want guess im just a **** with a nice lookin slower than your car lol! still wont stop me thinking its the quickest thing on the road...

Lol, this sounds like a conversation on Halfords carpark Saturday night.

There's nothing wrong with wringing every once of performace out of your engine, bragging about going over 157 and not servicing it in 8 months though is not clever. If you treat a Volvo like that it will last longer than your average car, but it will not last forever.

LOL, sevice the 2.0t and buy a T5 chip it etc and you might do a 170 mph then!

The higher compression on the 2 litre engine will almost certainly cap you out at around 270bhp if you lucky.

To go further it is much easier to take the old bits - sling them onto the 2.0 and get a T5 - at least work from a position of strength.

VVT will also help you on later engines. There are early low mileage C70 T5s for under 2 grand now.

I will have some of what he has been smoking!!!! BTW I hope you aint doing 157 on our national trunk roads and motorways!!!!! Just iamgine them moping you up and taking you home to your mother in 100 bits!!!! ps imagine you hit someone else at that speed huh! someones mother or sister ehhh????? drive your volvo like its ment to be driven!!!! 50mph in the outside lane with your flat cap and pipe!!!! holding every other git back is far better than racing them ;-)

I doubt the turbo on the 2.0T would be able to flow anywhere near the c405 CFM necessary for 270 bhp efficiently... :hilarious but if you can confirm the exact turbo model then i'll have a look at the compressor map for it..

How does VVT help with BHP?? :slap: lol!..

It just goes to show, the world is full of crazies. Or in this case, juveniles.

It helps by bringing in more torque. The peak figs may be the same but the VVT imho helps with the acceleration and fuel econ.

you keep spinning this pish WD.. but you have nothing to back up your theory.. the power, torque and 0-60 times are the same for post and pre ME7.. and you seem to have limited understanding of what VVT is or how it works.. the simple fact is that the majority of manufacturers use it now a days to help with emission control and fuel efficiency.. it's not exactly a performance addition to an edition like you keep on trying to tout..

maybe you'd like to prove with EVIDENCE that you don't just spout crap? - 2 dyno's (1 pre and 1 post ME7 on standard cars) will suffice..

EDIT: and there's a difference between arguing and asking for evidence to prove a point.. which you can't...

the part where you keep replying?..

EDIT: good link here for info: http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php?showtopic=6752&hl=cvvt

from what i have read about the Bosch VVT is its mainly used to smooth starts and idle.I dont think it plays too much of a role in making power in the high rpm range. I have some Me7 data stuff and Torque Based system articals somewhere i can share. But now we have numbers to work with.

EDIT 2: and proof from a dyno:

ON the 60 I originally disabled the vvt because on the engine dyno it showed no real gain.
