I've been away for a few days and returned to hear about a problem my wife had with the car, she pressed the folding wingmirror button in a carpark returned to it later and pressed it again to find the drivers side didnt return to its position only the nearside did...its still like this now for some reason although you can pull the drivers side mirror out. So now when you press the folding mirror button one mirror goes in the other goes out....i have a niggling thought that i read something like this on here before the forum crashed ??

Grateful of any ideas!

Thanks

Press the button so the drivers mirror is in and passenger is out. Then push the passenger mirror in. :-| They should both do the same then?

Fuse?

Or try this from the VOC forum, might do wing mirrors- don't know, worth a try:

Try performing a reset of the UEM (Upper Electronic Module), this controls the door locks and window operation:

- Close all of the doors and bonnet.
- Key in position II engine not running.
- Hold both the driver window and passenger window switches in the driver door panel in the closed or up position for 5 to 8 seconds after the windows are closed.
- Release buttons.
- Remove the ignition key.
- Operated the remote twice. lock/unlock lock/unlock.

Try this:

1. Open fuse box panel in the side of dashboard.

2. Remove the fuse for R/H door mirror (sorry don't have a number to hand).

3. Push folding button. L/H door mirror should now fold only. Folding mechs are now both aligned in sync.

4. Remove Main door mirror fuse from box also (not L/H one) then replace. Doing this seems to reset the folding mech memory.

5. Replace R/H door mirror fuse and test again. Should now both fold in sync.

That usually works.

Thanks very much guys, redbrick I tried your idea, mhon i've followed your instructions as well I wasn't certain which number the main door fuse was (tried 27) which didn't help so must've been wrong... instead I've disconnected the battery having got them alligned using the method you described & will try reconnecting later to see if it has worked :)

Mine was doing that also. While it was in for a service with RT they did a software upgrade for £20 and that sorted them out. Good luck, annoying isn't it.

Its all sorted, just reconnected the battery earlier after removing the wingmirror fuse on one side as suggested earlier by mhon and then folding the other in, it worked a treat!

Thanks everyone for your help :B_thumb:

Nuts, I should have thought of that! Hey ho, hopefully with the new software upgrade my car will now not only be able to fold its mirrors but run windows vista too!

You've done the right thing, the way I look at it is its happened once & probably will again :)

I've had this problem on my 2001 model. The passenger side was playing up so what I did was this...

1) I pushed the fold button on the dashboard so the drivers mirror was out and the passenger one was in.

2) I pulled out the fuse from the side of the dash, it's fuse 27 (15 amp), then I pushed the drivers mirror in by hand.

3) Replaced fuse 27

4) Switched on the ingnition, and pushed the fold switch again 2 or 3 times and the mirrors were back in sync.
