PM Rufe on here, he works for a main dealer in S.Wales and gives a fantastic discount. Failing that, if the price is still too high then just get your clutch, cranks seals and the filters off Rufe and get the rest from 'Parts for Volvo's' online.

Just out of interest, who's doing your rear crank seal?, I've got to get mine done and the cheapest I got quoted was £500, that's with me supplying a clutch and the seal.

Hi mate, i cant comment on non genuine as there are so many different manufacturers & suppliers out there. I only have experience of genuine items, though i know there can be big differences in some prices of genuine & non genuine parts.

If you wish i can give you our discounted prices for the genuine items, and you can then compare those with non genuine, perhaps then you can pick and choose, some genuine, some non genuine.

Hope this helps,

Simon :)

I find PFV to be a better quality than GSF and Eurocarparts (had some bad experiences with stuff from them). But obviously Genuine Volvo stuff from rufe is the best.

No need to ring us yet, I have allready part numbered the above up from the original post, just need to get prices and will send you a PM tomorrow mate. Postage to belfast shouldnt be a problem either, i have sold to people in Ireland a few times, and allthough i know ROI works out more expensive, if i remember correctly the royal mail dont charge any extra for northeren ireland.

I've had a few things from GSF with varying results, brakes always squeal but I think anti-squeal shimms can be fitted to counteract this, they do seem to stop you ok! Personally I wouldn't have a problem buying the ignition and basic servicing stuff from them tho.

Hiya,

depending how you drive it I would be tempted to recommend you stick to genuine Volvo front discs. I went through a few sets of non-Volvo discs where I seemed to be getting warped discs. The Volvo discs seem more able to take the abuse of braking a heavy front engined car.

I have had bad experiences with Scantech parts - rubber suspension mounts and a wishbone balljoint all wearing out in far too few miles for my liking (like under 15k miles). Those have been replaced with genuine Volvo now too.

It makes for expensive maintenance, but we don't drive these cars like Grandma does to the shops...

Cheers, Pete
