Over the last few years I,ve bought a few cars from japan to resell, allways japanese models (impreza's, mx5's etc) and never had any problems with them, a few v70r's are now coming through the auctions and I'm considering getting one for myself because they are all around 100k kms (60-70 thousand miles) and like most imports in good nick, most are awd versions, now I know the probs with awd in relation to the importance of keeping all the tyres a uniform tread depth, what i would like to know does the gearbox/transfer box problem relate to all v70's or was it fixed in later years?

Has anyone bought a japanese v70r

I have had 3 of the 2.4 265bph models and loved them. My first one did have a gearbox failure and I have heard of two others of that model going.
