Hi,

This has probably been covered before, but i have blown my 15g turbo up on my 850 t-5!
I remember reading that some later / bigger volvo turbos do fit but have different downpipes???

Any light shed on this would be a great help!
Cheers, Tom. :)

Hi,ive thought about this too,As far as i know 850r turbos are 19t and they do fit i think but as you say the down pipes are different in some way.As for performance i dont know what to expect but would be interested to know.

850r & later v70 t5's came with 16t's, only later v70's ran a 19 or 18t

Are they all compatible though?

Manual T5r and 850r used the 16t turbo as did the 70 seriesT5. The 70series r manual used the 18t and the 19t I think was on the end of the line 265 bhp model r(all classic series). The 01> 70 T5 used angled downpipe 16t model turbos. This is what is going on mine in the near future. You will need a different downpipe to suit the early 16t model turbos as they are a straight out flat flange off the turbo opposed to the concave straight out flange on the 15g. Some very late model 15g turbos had a flat straight outlet flange.

So dependat on what tubo you want, dictates whether you will need a downpipe to suit it or not. These turbos will fit the original manifolds. HTH.

P.S. some one shoot my turbo reference to model ideas down if they are wrong.

If your going to the expense of buying a turbo make sure you get the downpipe that it was partnered with, if its a used one of course, then there can be no way of getting it wrong.
I was offered a 16T of an early 850R but he wouldnt sell me the downpipe with it, dont ask me why he just wouldnt, i think he had a buyer for the full exhaust as it was a full stainless one, needless to say i didnt buy the turbo.

Cheers every1,
I'm not overly fussed about any performance gains, it's just that the turbo that blew is still in warranty, but he might not have a 15g to swap it with???
Hence the fact i was making sure the others fitted my manifold!

15 16 18 19 can all be fitted to your existing DP you just have to leave the exhaust housing in place & just fit the core & compressor housing.... the exhaust turbines on the td04 series our cars use are all the same.....
