Hi all, I need your knowledge and wisdom again.

After diagnosing the problem of the ocassional knocking noise from engine (clutch thrust bearing thingy) i have a horrible knocking/banging/whining noise on full lock in both directions.

Me being pesimistic am thinking steering rack? i've ruled out CV joints because unless i'm extremely unlucky i doubt both sides would have knackered causing the noise of both directions of full lock.

Any help really really appreciated 'cos i can't park in car parks without people staring at me and my noisey car :(

The clunking could possible be suspension top mounts.

How is your power steering level?

I would grease up the steering end stops on the control arms first off...
This strangly enough cures all sorts of noises at full lock....

They are two nylon strips, that attach to the lower/front section of the control arm, quite close to the ball joint..If you look very carefully at the picture below you can see it where the left hand red axle stand upper part gets hidden by the control arm...Regret at work i have no photoshop...!!

Not the greatest picture in the world i accept, tho it should give you some help...
