Shout out to Russ for NOT selling me a new turbo!!!
Put the car in for a service + a couple of bits, but had Russ look into a worrying symptom of occaisional smoke from the exhaust.
I was convinced it's the turbo and talking to Russ over the phone he agreed.
I'm thinking I need to break open the kid's piggy banks :frown:
However once he had the car he found a split hose and replaced that and said hang fire on the turbo to see how it goes.
Cheers Russ, the car's running beautifully again and the turn-in is much sharper with the new drop links. I am still bedding in the new pads (Ferodo 2500) but will let you know how they are in a couple of weeks!.

There's not many honest garages out there mate, when you find it makes running the car all the more worthwhile,

Good to see someone else who has good things to say about RT's if I am right you are a Fire Chief? and you collected it on Friday? If so I was one of the two customers Russ was talking too when you collected it....

Glad to here the old girls fine gary. New pads and tyres! Glad your driving her how she's supposed to. Have to catch up soon.
Oh and well done again to Russ and co. RT is the only place my Volvo's go to. Most honest dealer I've ever met!

I think 'Fire Chief' is over egging a bit! but yes i do attend fires and other emergency incidents in the car, so it does have to work for a living. I am considering asking the Taxman whether he'll let me claim for the tyres and servicing against my tax code (don't ask, don't get!)
I was in a bit of a hurry Friday as I had an afternoon out on the Father -in-law's speedboat over to Cowes, otherwise I'd have stayed for more of a chat.
are you local to RT then?

There was a very nice collection of cars at RT's when I was there on thursday afternoon!
Gaz - glad you got yours sorted - it certainly looks great!
Andy - was yours the saffron S70 or is that chris' car?
Had mine in for a service + for some "ex-peril" suspension to be fitted. Although still on the stock 16" wheels, I was suprised the eibach / FSD combo really didn't feel harsher than the stock T5 setup- and made the car feel much more planted. Had a lot of fun on a trip to oxford and back today! Cheers Russ!
Need to get my next upgrade shopping list together...

Lol that's 4 of us then who's car were at RT at the same time! Mine is the red 850R Estate, although its probably without the wheels at the moment so might be hidden away up on the ramps somewhere.

+1! My Silver V70R was there too just having a couple of tweaks done after the new engine was put in... Saw the Lazer Blue and the Saffron S70 there...Very nice looking cars. Didn't see your red one though Carpy.. They must have hidden it! lol..
Mine is better than it ever has been since RT's worked their magic with the new engine... Had a couple of other bits done too. IPD track spec anti roll bars and endlinks and the Bell Intercooler upgrade. Just brilliant.
Well at least our cars managed a group meet!

Aye mine was probably tucked away somewhere. How come you needed a new engine? Did you blow the old one up or something? Bet that set you back a few quid didn't it.

The head gasket went and caused a split in the block between cylinders 3 and 4.
Luckily had an extended Volvo warranty which paid out in the region of £7,400 for the work to be done!!

Blimey that was handy. I guess they don't make them like they used to, or perhaps you just got unlucky having that happen.

Russ and Andy said that the block area between each cylinder is slotted so that appears to be an area of weakness.
I'm sure one of them will read this and offer a much better explanation!!
My interpretation of it was it was B*GGERED!! lol

They don't do courtesy cars do they?
They do yes but they can be in short supply sometimes.
I've had to get the train down/back there a couple of times now and it's £27 one way. And I thought the cost of V-Power was expensive...........
I'm sure if you ring Russ and let him know you would like one. he'll be able to book a date when one is available.
