This might be a re-post, but I am about to buy one and install one on my 850
using a SC700 and CHM-S620,
here is the following ' How To':
This Interface is designed for use with the majority of Volvo vehicles ranging between 1995 & 1999 - this
includes the 840, 850, 940, 960, S40, V40, S70, V70 and C70 (Not S80). This is only compatible witha standard
Volvo ‘Double-DIN’ sound system including the following head unit models: SC700, SC800/1/2/5 and CR906.
This interface is NOT compatible with the latest ‘HU’ range of head units.
CD CHANGERS
Any of the Alpine M-Bus changers will work in conjunction with this interface. However, we recommend
that you use the Alpine CHM-S630 Six-disc auto-changer. An Alternative changer is the CHA-S634; this
will need to be used in conjunction with the Alpine KCA-130B M-Bus conversion lead (This conversion may
impair functionality).
INSTALLATION
It is important that the installation sequence is followed to ensure complete and proper recognition of
the CD changer by the factory radio.
1. Switch off radio, turn off ignition and remove keys.
2. Disconnect negative battery terminal (Unless vehicle is fitted with trip or navigation
computers)(Ensure radio code is known or accessible).
3. Connect Alpine bus-lead to VOLA2 interface.
4. Route Alpine bus-lead to desired mounting location for changer.
5. Plug bus-lead into fly-lead of Alpine changer.
6. Remove factory head unit from console by depressing the two removal keys on either side of the
unit and carefully pulling the set out.
7. Locate ‘Mini DIN’ CD changer socket on rear of head unit and connect VOLA2 interface (See
attached diagram for reference).
8. Connect Yellow wire from VOLA2 interface to a Permanent 12v supply.
9. Connect Red wire from VOLA2 interface to an Accessory/Switched 12v supply.
10. Re-connect the negative terminal of the battery.
11. Verify full working operation via the radio.
12. Re-install the factory radio into the console.
13. Mount the CD changer as per manufacturers instructions.
Any vehicles earlier than 1995 with a ‘Double-DIN’ radio will also use the ‘VOLA2’ interface.
If installing into an estate vehicle it may be advisable to fit the changer into the recess of the boot floor.

This product is covered by a 24 month warranty from the date of purchase.
