Okey doke, once I get the T5 I will start doing all the things that I originally wanted to (before insanity grabbed me and I bought a Honda) and one of the first things will be a dump valve.

So the car is a 97 T5, what do you suggest? Preferably I want to avoid anything that'll screw up the fuelling but all the same I do love the whoosh on gearchange. :)

The DV26 is probably the best for being not to noisy when used with just a panel filter. The forge ones though can have the springs in them changed so you can have them dump pressure at different boost levels. They are probably better for the running of the car but for having the car run a little rich at dump intervals it shouldn't affect your car too much. I would say make sure the dump valve is greased properly as my first one was creating a big boost leak while in use.

The Bailey stuff definitely seems to be the choice. Nobody has mentioned Forge though.

while on the subject of dump valves, does any one have a clue as to why mine on a v70 t5 only dumps at about 4-5000 rpm, it is well greased and i even put a lower rated spring in, but still not much dumping goin on!
cheers..

The valve should only dump when the pressure in the inlet manifold is less than the inlet/pre i/c pipework + or - the spring setting on the valve.....
Are you saying your valve dumps at 4-5k irrespective of driving manor....If so there is either a problem with you D/v spring or the pipework between th D/v and the inlet manifold...
The valve should only work *really* when the loud pedal has been released....
Cheers

Forge make the blanking plates you will need when you remove the stock dump valve......
As an aside i googled kalmar union and there is no mention of http://www.kalmar-union.com/ ..strange....

The easiest way to get the valve to dump is to short shift into fourth and as the boost is building at low revs simply release the throttle completely. Even the stock dump valve on our Merc Vitos whoosh when doing that. :)

Thanks for that bud, i think there may be issues with the boost in general because i dont get any reading of psi on the boost gauge until about 4000, and only about 9psi when realy hammering it. and as i probably should have said in my last post the dv only dumps when driving aggressively, but as you said only when the pedal is released!

and ive just been out and tried the fourt gear thing and nothing not a jot. on a pluss note while i was out i drove past some chavs and as i changed up it sounded like a shotgun goin off! and they ££££ them selves.

Bailey dump valves are good but they don't do a blanking plate for the standard reciculating valve! forge motorsport do the complete kit and their stuff is top notch! you can buy the blanking plate seperately if you want!

I have discovered that the R has a blanking plate on it! So presume a dump valve should fit fairly easily - I reckon Dave had one on here before he sold it to me. Any suggestions on this one? Bailey and Forge seem to be the names i come across. All suggestions welcomed.
Phil.
