I have been trying to think of ways to shorten my story which leads me to me driving around in a N reg 150k 2.5 20v -

Here goes: Last tuesday i took my car (855 T5) to my usual specialists for a MOT and to look at a misfire on full boost. I took the car down all was well, and i was told to call mid afternoon to see if the car was ready as they thought it may take more than 1 day.

So at 3pm i called and they said the car had passed the MOT with no problems, but as yet haven't looked at the misfire - no problem i said, let me know when it is ready.

At 4pm, i got a phone call from the garage who went on to explain that whilst they were on a run to locate the misfire the bonnet flung up, snapping the hindges, bending the bonnet and attaking the wings leaving large indents -

Not very happy about it, and a week on we have been loaned a 2.5 manual - what a great car.

I have only ever driven my car, so i didn't know what it would be like and thankfully it is a better car to drive. It sits lower without the self levelers which means the arse end sits tighter in the bends. There is very little wheel spin and no torque steer what so ever, which make back street thrashing a real pleasure. Without the whistle of a turbo that 5 pot sounds fantastic, and as far as performance goes it is ample - like ur average 1.8/2.0 saloon. A lpt would make it spot on i think. No dount the 300 ish hp available in mine is very useful, but for everyday use the 2.5 is a real gem and does 27mpg whilst being driven enthusiastically :)

Will probably get my T5 back the end of this week / next !!! But for now the 2.5 will do

Bad news about your T5 Hun! I had always wondered about the non T5 versions of the 850's, and assumed that they would be like tanks to drive with no real opphh in them - apparently I was wrong in my assumptions!!!

At least you didn't have a k reg fiesta as a courtesy car LOL

I have to agree that the turbo does hide the 5cylinder thrum and having owned a 2.0 20v have to admit they are very comfortable and good to drive on a day to day basis.
Sorry to hear about your car , I hope they are paying for the damage caused.

They are paying for the car to be repaired - thankfully.

But since running a manual, i really fancy a 850R manual in red - <80k if anyone knows of one :)
