Hiya,

I've been told (after diagnostic testing) that I need a new front lambda sensor. Car is a 2003 S40 2.0 T Sport and the engine code is B4204 T3. The sensor itself is a 4 wire one with a rectangular brown/copper plug.

I have been quoted £172 from Volvo Cardiff and £123 from FRF (thanks for the price Simon). On looking around this evening I see that http://www.lambdasensor.co.uk/main/volvontk1.htm - http://www.hglmotors.com/lamntk/order1.pl?item=OTA7N-5D2 are doing them (Direct Fit NTK - OTA7N-5D2) for £82.25 - can't see a pic of the plug end though.

These (http://www.lambdapower.co.uk/partsearch/az2.asp?IDlist=LP-15395) do it for £85.99 but the plug is round!!!

Are these guys reliable and just as importantly, have I identified the correct one for my car?

As usual, any advice appreciated...

Personally I wouldn't touch any other makes of Lambda other than Bosch or NGK. If you find either of these at a good price then it should be fine.

Cheers, thanks both...

As I understand it, NTK is the technical ceramics side of MGK (spark plugs).

That being the case, according to the NGK website (http://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/car_commercial_extra.php?id=3395), the part I need is a OTA7N-5D2, which is the one for sale at http://www.hglmotors.com/lamntk/order1.pl?item=OTA7N-5D2 for £82.25 all in. I'll ring tomorrow and post back - it may help others out in the future.

I phoned www.hglmotors.com just to be extra sure. Guy there was very helful and took the engine type, reg and volvo part replacement number to make sure he got the right part for me. He also checked wire number/colours matched.

It seems that NTK don't do a compatible front lambda for my car, but Bosch do. So in the end it seems to have worked out - right part, best manufacturer for £96 all in.
