Automatics work by voodoo.

First thing to do is check the voodoo oil in the gearbox. Is it the colour of thin blood or black as the devils soul?

wheelspin?
it was like it was wheel spinning but there was no weeving or sliding of the car. and now there is an odd hesitation kinda like when an automatic chages gear that feeling but its doing it when its not changing gear if that makes sence

automatics use torque convertors and a beltsystem, one of your belts might be loose causing it to slip... shouldnt really thought as the faster the engine turns the tighter the belt gets

Autos have multi plate clutches that connect the input shaft to the wheels via planetary gear sets.

Read more here...

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/automatic-transmission.htm

normally if clutch slip happens in the aisin warner box you have - the transmission warning light arrow will start to flash. I think you just had wheel spin.

if the ATF smells of burnt caramel and has lots of black bits in it - time to flush change the ATF and maybe start looking for a second hand box

just took it for a spin and it drives fine but when i floor it it goes fine then when the turbo kicks it and when i normaly get the power boost the steering wheel vibrates and i get a odd sound from the from. kinda feels like when ever the big power kicks in the drive shafts just spin without moving the wheels. is it posible that i have buggered my drive shafts where they atack to the hug and it can handle normal power but slip when i give it some?

the clutches shouldnt slip at all

have a feeling it may be my drive shafts. if my drive shafts or cv joints were buggered would i be able to drive normaly but drive shafts slip under big power?

just done a diognostic chck on gearbox and there are no fault codes listed so could thatr mean its not my gearbox?

I personally can't imagine how the driveshafts could fail in this way, I think it would be box related.

If you're at all mechanically minded you can quite easily flush out the box yourself by disconnecting the hose that goes to the cooler (right hand side of rad, at the top as you lok under bonnet), attach a clear pipe to it (roughly 1/2" dia), then run the car at idle. Once you see bubbles STOP THE ENGINE - top up the gearbox, and repeat the process. From memory you need about 10L of atf, or perhaps more if you want to ensure absolutely all the old stuff is gone.

Alternatively, where are you located? - perhaps there is an auto box specialist near you who could test drive it.

A lot of people don't believe in adding stuff to autos, but I have read good things about LubeGuard, and Forte products in general get a good name.

buy lubegard in the uk from : http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/part_31.html

http://www.forteuk.co.uk/Automatic_transmission.htm

Forte stuff available on the net, or ebay.

just been reading the fault finding part of my haynes manual in the drive shaft section.

symptons-
clicking or knocking sound when driving slowly with steering on full lock.
could be-
lack of cv joint lubrication due to damaged gaiter.
worn outer cv joint

my car does exactly that.

sympton-
vibrating when eccerlerating
reason-
worn inner cv joint
bent or distorted driveshaft.

thats what my car is doing to.

ever since i bought the car when ever i was doing a U turn or a slow turn on full lock i would get a clonking clickng sound from the front and i wondered what it was.
and now when ever i floor it i get a vibrating and kindas slipping.

could this be a cv joint that was bust when i bought the car and my driving hard at times has made it slip. specialy when i put it in sports mode and floored it from standing still.

If you are getting a knocking on full lock one o the CV joints could definately playing up. If itis not always there though the knocking may be just the control arm bushes or even the suspension top mounts as they are very common failure parts on our cars.

every time i put my car on full lock and drive slow i get a clonk grind clank.
could a cv joint also be the cause of vibrating and slipping under big power?

The knocking on full lock is more than likely a CV joint as could the vibration .

Worth greasing the steering stops and checking the top engine mount also, both have given me symptoms similar to CV failure on my car (funny noises at full lock).

Cheers, Pete

does the noise stop when you press the clutch? if so its a cv joint, if not its the steering stops which need greasing up, a simple fix to a pretty common problem
