Hi 850 owners - specifically 855 T5 Auto Estates in standard trim - I need help from one of you kind people. I've taken the ABS ECU off for repair by Dave850r (what a star) and realised after I'd taken it off that I meant to check the RPM at basic speeds first - you know 30, 40, 50 60 & 70mph (as the speedo doesn't work once it's been removed) - so now I haven't got a clue what speed I'm doing. Would one of you PLEASE just check your RPM at these speeds and let me know what I should be looking at.
Many thanks
Frank

Mind you after reading about all of you who've had Ricas done there probably ar'nt any standard T5's out there!

Oops - should have said. 70 mph is 2500 in 4th on the AT box (it is for me).

As for the others I would judge speed off surrounding cars. Gear ratios are not affected by the RICA upgrade.

I wouldn't copy the cars around you if I were you, they are all lemmings!!
Ok, these figures are for speed on the flat, no acceleration, and approximate cos the revcounter is calibrated in 500s.

30 mph..............................1000 rpm
40 mph..............................1450 rpm
50 mph..............................1700 rpm
60 mph..............................2000 rpm
70 mph..............................2450 rpm

I should think that is accurate enough to keep you out of trouble. :B_steerin

Hi T51995,
Many, many thanks. I hate driving around slower than I have to and this will really help. Thanks again for the info and the swift reply.

And thank you Dave too. Sent the ECU will be with you before 12 noon Tuesday.

Cheers
Frank

I wasnt saying copy them - but going loads faster would be a mistake. At low speeds it is hard to judge, so using your neighbours as a guide would not be a bad thing.

I shall have the ECU back to you as soon as I can mate.

I agree Dave, under acceleration you are going to get a different rpm, so perhaps a combination of both! Obviously it is an offence to drive with a speedo that is not working!
