A while ago I bought a keyfob off ebay for my 96' 855. Needless to say it won't code to my vehicle ! (I know the coding proceedure and I can get my existing one to 'recode' but not the new one). I know the keyfob works as it emits the tiny 'pip' noise when you press it. I believe I read somewhere that although the keyfobs are identicle they work on different frequencies or something like that , and only your Volvo dealer can tell them apart! Anyone done the same and if so do they fancy a straight swop and 50/50 odds ?

1) What does your keyfob look like?
2) What coding procedure are you using?

There are two types of fob for the 850 - one won't work with the other. Piccies?

The procedure is the one shown in all the manuals (5 turns ignition on/off press button, hazards flash job done !)and works with my key fob but not this one. A thread on the 'other site' claimed that even Volvo dealers weren't sure which was which but kept both and sold you which ever one would work :wtf: .Any-hoo picture below.

Looks exactly like my fob too.
I have also used the above procedure to reprogramme it a month or so ago.
