Looks good, not sure if its a bit to agressive looking on a silver car. Mite have a go with a spare grill. Ta!

and?
Silver car with the same silver painted grill will look very subtle and will update the front end a bit, might make it look morfe modern, trust me, i've seen it done before

This is the one i got on mine. RT Mechanics in liphook have them specially made. I think they do black ones as well as silver.

There are some cheap alternative ones being sold that are just a bit of mesh stuck on to a cut out standard grill using hot melt glue. You can easily push the mesh back and open the bonnet!!

RT's ones are fully fabricated and welded together.

Do the rt ones fit flush at the front ?

Here's my contribution, a cheaper alternative to an aftermarket grill.

Hi,

I've been toying with the idea of changing the grill on my car as well, but I don't want mesh and the other types of grill that are available. What I want is a standard looking grill but with a very subtle twist.

I had an idea (that I've not tried so you might want to try this on an old grill first to see how it goes) which follows.

Have you every done any home renovations? Think about this...when you have a bare piece of timber and you want to give it some colour without taking away the effect of the natural grain and texture you can use a process called "colour washing".

What I thought was going to a local DIY shop and getting a "dark" (not black but a very dark grey) colour wash and doing the same thing.

I would remove the cross slash and emblem, mask off the chrome surround and lighly spray over the remaining area until I get a consitancy of colour and transparancy that I am looking for. Each coat would make the was slightly darker. What you would be looking for is retaining the dark areas areas of the grill, but colour washing the chrome.

When you're happy with the colour/transparancy, allow to dry, add a couple of coats of clear, remove the masking tape refit the cross slash and emblem and Bob's your uncle! I think it would look pretty cool and very subtle.

Just my thoughts...

Cheers,

lol, am I that hard to spot mate? bit of a drama painting the spoiler today, all painted, looking great, put 1st coat of clear on, then noticed the paint bubbling up on 1 teeny spot, rubbed it back, fine, put 2nd coat of clear on & DRAMA O'clock!!!! Turned into a big bubble, something was eating the paint thru to the base! Had to strip it back & fill it!!! GAWD!! have to try to patch it, if im not happy with that, sand the lot back & give it a quick top coat & clear. AGAIN!!! (underside is fine thank goodness)
