How much oil does your T5 use??

Mine just started to use a drop, maybe my fault for overfilling slightly but hey she s done 165.5k now.
She doesnt seem to burn any but drops a drop even more overnight we are only talking 1/4l every 1000 miles so nothing too major but it always looks more on the floor!
Im a bit anal over fluids and check my oil almost everyday since ive noticed the slight leak.

Wouldn`t have thought it`d be the turbo return seal seeing as youv`e just had all that turbo malarky done on your motor

Mine only seems to lose oil on long, fast journeys. Leeds-Cornwall=0.75litres=350miles but on normal commuting it loses nothing monthly :)

A litre of Mobil 1 every 2500 miles or so varied driving - and no leaks that I can see on the ground - at 119k - I was being followed by a chum at high speed & asked him to look for any blue smoke - nothing not a jot, no black smoke either under hard acceleration.
I don't know where it goes, just so long as she keeps on going as well as ever I don't care.
But I did find a bit of oil had found it's way under the Spark plug cover thing, from the filler cap I presume.

I had a 940 Turbo diesel (still get a shiver of repulsion) with 225k on the clock that didn't use a drop of oil. It was an interim car...

mine used to use half a litre every 350 miles but didnt leak or smoke so i just kept topping her up. worked for me..........

Mines using quite a bit, I havent checked exactly how much but I changed it just before christmas and I've gone through maybe 6 litres!!.I dont think its burning it and I know its not leaking so...er.....hmmm. I think its a bit thin so next time I do a change I'm gonna put some slightly thicker stuff in.

had a 740 2.3 had a leak just kept on topping oil up when needed engine had done 240 k drove as good as the first day i bought it 14 years ago

Mine has used 1/4 litre in 10k - But it has only done 30k, so I guess this must be normal?

Hi Lance, try running your oil at ¾ on the dip stick when cold higher boost means more blow by into the sump and increased back pressure through the breather system which finds it’s way via the turbo into the intercooler and drips out of the hole o/s kindly provided by Volvo. If you fit an enclosed not vented to atmosphere catch tank this also helps. I’ve got 2 cause I like shiny things lol. Hope this helps. :)

Mine seems to depend on how I drive her, I can go for weeks taking it easy and not use any. Then I go mad for a few days and end up putting about 1/2 litre in it. Like the other guys mine doesn't smoke and doesn't leak and shes just hit 102k miles.

got a few blobs on the drive every now and then from very slightly leaky sump gasket but doesnt seem to move on the dipstick though.

My 854's on 140k, never uses any oil, serviced every 10k, still full on the dipstick.
My AT fliud on the otherhand is now residing on the M25 hardshoulder, alond with bits of my driveshaft - geat engine tho :biggrin:
