Hi Guys,

The Engine Check light has just come on in the C70. Don't know whether to book it into somewhere to get the codes read or to invest in a code reader of my own - I have seen the readers on EBAY for about 50 quid, but not sure on their accuracy?

There was no apparant change to performance etc once the light came on, however, yesterday I had noticed a flat spot/power surging on gentle acceleration but this cleared itself after the car had be turned off and back on. Any ideas?

Can any of the guys up in the North East recommend anywhere to take her as I would prefer not to take it to my local Volvo dealership?

Cheers
Chris...

Sounds similsr to mine.
Pop down to a Vlvo specialist. Some want to charge £40+ to read the codes, some will do it for free.
It could be anything from a leaky £5 hose to a £600 ECU. Without the code it is a lot harder.
A codereader off ebay should be fine. Make sure you get an ISO one. Software is a bit harder.
Let me know if you get one, I seem to have used most in the last few weeks

Got codes read on friday to find a faulty Air Temperature Sensor. Got the part from Volvo, fitted it and got codes claered on Saturday.

Car now feels much quicker on hard acceleration, however I am still getting the power surges on gentle/mild acceleration. This is making me think the the Air Temp Sesnor obviously had bot all to do with the surging problem as the EML has not come on since saturday.

The only thing I can think of is that I had ran her very low on petrol one night last week whilst trying to get to tesco's to get my extra 5p off per litre and am now thinking I may have dragged some crap up into either the fuel filter or worse still into the injectors.

Can anyone give me some advice on what to do now, is it worth changing the fuel filter, should I start taking injectors out and cleaning them or should I give a bottle of REDEX a go at cleaning the fuel system out?
