hey guys, been quite busy. changed the oil, filters, plugs, distributor cap, leads, rotor arm etc and did a bit of polishing as well.
this is the car when i got it home and just gave it a wash. looks ok but very dull, hardly any reflection and sooooo many swirl marks:cry:

so i got the clay bar out. this picture is of the clay after only half the bonnet was done!!!!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v304/irf200/claybonnet.jpg

this was the other half!!!!

anyway, done the whole car, started with meguiars stage 1 on the wing. dunno if you can see the difference with this crappy phone pic, but standing there the difference was very obvious between the wing and door

forgot to take a pic of the whol car afterwards, but then i had just clayed it, done stage 1 meguiars, autoglym resin polish and then autoglym extra gloss protection over the whole car so was understandably knackered!!!!!!
well, here's a pic of the bonnet anyway

now that thats done, i've got an mbc and a boost gauge from my old car, so it would be rude not to use it:biggrin:
i understand that on an otherwise standard car, the limit is 13psi. would this be right?
i WILL most definetly be going for one of these aftermarket chips, but am broke at the mo, so will have to do.
also, where are you guys sourcing parts from? with my sx it was literally just having to phone a certain specialist and they had everything imagineable, cheap too.
so where could i for example get a decat from?
last question(finally), i'm not gonna go as extreme as i did on my sx, will be aiming for a fast road set up, whatever that means, so will the standard ecu cope as far as fuelling demands are concerened with a full exhaust, induction, rica etc?
thanks for any help guys, sorry for the long post:sorry:
edit. forgot, its quite restrictive above 5k, is that normal?

looks well good mate. I brought the whole meguiars kit. its expensive but I wouldn't use anything else on a car now. Its great stuff.

Your T5 looks identical to mine except a lot cleaner ! As for the ecu being up to modding. My understanding is that those clever chaps at VT (RICA) can set up your ecu map to make the most of whatever mods you have done ie bigger exhaust, larger turbo etc.

I've used both megs and sonus grey ...

I think I found the megs marginally easier to use but it doesnt keep.

You need to make sure you regularly remold the clay to ensure a clean surface. Once a clean surface cannot be found you need to throw the clay away. You must throw it if you accidentally drop it too.

fitted the boost guage and mbc and i've answered my own question. no more restrictiveness(comparitively anyway) above 5k. this is more like it!!
