Hi

Does anyone have any idea if ex police T5,s are "tweaked"??
have heard loads of stories and myths about ECU,s etc but is there any truth?
havent really had a chance to look to closely yet,but it does go well [no smoke at 199,000 miles!!!!!] dont want to go to mad,was toying with an induction kit and maybe an exhaust?
also noticed a creaking sound and judder sometimes when i take up drive in 1st, could it be a contaminated clutch [no slip or problem in other gears] or a worn engine mount?? oh and how difficult is it to change the cambelt???

regards

i agree with poochingaround, this is a rumour that has basically evolved from dodgy car salesmen that seem to think that this 'fact' will help sell the car. People think that theyre so fast because theyre chipped but really there just damn fast before being tweaked!

we had a ex plod in about 3 months ago and the techie`s have to take the cars on road test when they have finished working on them. The result was quiet strange 2 techie`s went out in it when they came back they were amazed this is no lie this car hit 55mph in 1st gear and went off the rev counter.Just for the information this was not a customers car but a trade in that was going to auction

could it of been an exception?? some cars are made and there is no explanation to why they are so quick.

as an example, wobbly dave's car is quick, 242bhp at the wheels, standard!!! thats much more powerful than it should be. Maybe the car your referring to is similar? just a one off and no one why?????????

My ex-police car had a non-standard ECU map on it. I can't say if that made it quicker or not, though... :)

In the Netherlands all police volvo's and ambulances were chipped by Rica!

Whilst sourcing some bits from a volvo specialist/breaker who also does ECU remaps, i asked about an upgrade and was told if its a ex plod and a traffic / persuit car it is proberbly already done.

I guess without a rolling road test or however it's done, i will never know.

May be an option for a mini meet and rolling road shoot out.
