Could be related to age and where you live mate although tbh sounds like the company concerned is trying to pull a fast one it might pay to shop around as i`ve never heard of that clause before

AF told me I needed a cat2 immob minimum (despite my massive Clifford alarm).
They then phoned back 1/2hr later and said its OK the Volvo immob is Cat1 anyway.
This is on a V70 tho,
