They are fine. In standard form they are a bit slow - even a standard D5 will be faster. However, when tuned they are faster than the 2.4T and almost as quick as a T5.

I don't actually own one, but have driven lots of them.

They are very smooth and a great all round car, quick depends what you are comparing one to?

I got the 2.0T, they ain't bad, i've managed to squeeze 130 out of it, and it has the 5cyl growl and turbo whistle which gets people's heads looking round when you pull off.
Very comfy, best leather i've had in the last few cars i've had (Honda CR-V, Accord, Jag XJ6) with the RICA it will is said to run moved from 163bhp to 240bhp (think same as a standard T5) but i guess it won't be as quick due to the low pressure turbo. The only problem i've had is the boost pressure sensor is shot on the arir flow tube, still runs fine though, just gotta get round to getting it fixed

i've got one, bit slow but enquired about a VT Rica remap - 590 quid to put it to around 230-240hp and it's meant to be quicker than a std t5 due to the smaller turbo (quicker spool up) not slower.

mind you, I need to do an oil and filters change (air & oil) as it's currently sluggish as hell... anyone know if 5w40 is ok on these? castrol's website says 0-40 edge but at over 80 quid for 8 litres, I'm not putting that in!
