What year is each car?

ME7 is fly by wire - depending on the year of the cars will depend whether they are ME7 or pre fly by wire! What modifications you can do depend on what year your cars are!

The C70 2.4T will definately be ME7, ie fly-by-wire. The V70 will be fly-by-wire if it's after 1999. If so, then you may need to remove the Superchips first before doing any ECU mods. If you are close enough, we can check that for you, but you may need to go back to Superchips for the removal.

Best mod by far is the ECU upgrade. The T5 can go to 340 bhp with the RICA stage 2, but the 2.4T can only go to about 250 bhp with ECU and full exhaust.

Adam.

hi the c70 is a ME7 for sure as the throttle body was renewed 10k ago, according to the service history. The v70 is the old style and that has the superchip which was fitted before i got the car,the receipt is there for it though so i can contact the dealer who put it in, but then i am gettin into the running all over the place scenario and cant afford the time really, just want simple upgrade and cheap cost if possible.
The volvo badges on the front grill are some indication i am told, to identify the ME7(now i know what it is) as if they have the blue centre they are different throttle assembly to the black. I have got to come to BRUM next wednesday to pick up some stuff and could drop the v70 off for a look but really wanted prices before i mess anyone around, the c 70 can be brought down the next day no probs.

thanks for the advice once again look forward to seeing you. :007: :wavey:

You would be better off selling the 2.4 and buying a T5, IMHO as by the time you have finished with labour and sourcing an engine you will have, more than likely, paid more that buying the whole car.

If you want a T5 engined C70 simply sell the 2.4 and pick up a T5 probs for about a grand more it will save you a fortune that way.

Insurance companies don't like big engine mods and it would be difficult to insure. Although in this case it would be difficult to tell. Far and away easier to buy a T5 to start with.
