Well just when you think things are going well.......typical!

Had my air-con re-gassed 7 weeks ago by the dealer and it was superb for all of three days. Had it diagnosed at the dealer shortly after because the compressor was clicking in and out every 3 seconds.....Yes, yes.... lack of gas!

I was expecting the worse after watching the engineer go around the car with his light and cool glasses on.

"What's the bad news then?" I said.
"You may wish to sit down" he replied.
"You have six leaks from the compressor, condensor and accumulater" he followed "do you have warrenty, Sir?" at which point I didn't know whether to laugh or cry! and then my brain engaged. "Yes!"

So had all the parts replaced under warrenty and was working great........

Oh well, I knew it was too good to be true! 5 weeks on from the install and no gas!

The local dealer had it today to 'investigate'. Diagnosis......anyone have a guess?........I'll give you a clue............ There are 4 main components on an air-con system, and I only had 3 replaced.

(In my best Rolf Harris voice..) Can you guess what it is yet? Yep, the evaporater

Anyway, I am at the waiting stage (again!) as Volvo was straight on the phone to where I purchased it from asking for more warrenty work.

For anyone who is experiencing problems, let me sum up how much this has cost (not me thank *@#$!) so far:
the previous job cost parts + labour = £1062
and the new estimate for the evap + sensor + labour = £972!

On the bright side, it would be one hell of a selling point (possibly?)

Keep you posted

Dave

doen't sound like good news for me then, i went and had mine regassed, volvo specialist said it was working fine, tested it myself no cold air but a musty smell instead, all this the day i was off to spain in it. the air con works for 20mins then stops so i turn it off for 5 mins then back on again and it will once again give me 20 mins cold air and so on and so on. least i don't have to worry about it for another year lol.

My thoughts exactly, if I wasn't getting it done under warrenty!

Looks like my car may have to go without the aircon if it`s gonna cost me the same to sort mine out

I`m hoping that it`s just the condensor that i know was knackered when i got the car but i suppose i`ll find out in a few weeks when i put a new one in and have the system regassed

I`m gonna cross everything and hope it`s ok

Cheers

I dont think I can even be bothered to get it regassed. If the regass doesnt work out then il be spending even more on it. Id rather spend my money on something usefull, like brakes, suspension or headgasket lol.

At the end of the day its not a necessity for myself anyway, if you never had it, you wont miss it so to speak.

Suprise, suprise the evaporator is not covered by the warrenty. Oh, well that's not getting done then.

Anyone fancy a project or a new car perhaps?

That sounds to me like a clutch problem rather than anything serious...
