I am currently in the process of updating the 850 audio system. As this is my family bus there won't be any subs or amps installed its just a useful family setup.

All the work has been carried out myself and I am just waiting for a couple of other parts to come in to complete.

This is my progress so far. Please tell me what you think.

very very nice,as said the leather on the left hand headrest looks a little loose

Lee

the leather at the bottom of both headrest are still loose as I am awaiting my Av selector unit. Once this is here I will stich up the bottom of both headrest and this will hide the wiring. I have today done a dry run and i should be able to hide the wire almost completly.

The top rear of the headrests are a bit mishaped due to the front being leather and the rear being plastic. Then with the scretching it, it has caused this slight deformation.

The screen size is as spotted 7inch. They both have IR headphones and will be controlled from the front via the av selector when it arrives. I can confirm that smaller screens would be much easier to do as &inch is the MAX. I already had these otherwise I would have had smaller ones.

I am going to get some cream leather style material and just make up some crappy headrest covers until I think of another way round it. At the moment I have VOLVO workshop covers on them so you can't see them anyway.

Still to go in there will be digital TV and a dvd changer.

I have today recieved a refund for the unit I have been waiting some 4-5 weeks for and have been totally unable to source one for the right money in this country!!!!!!!

After speaking with a very helpful slaes person at CAR ELECTRONICS in Nottingham called PAUL (thats their plug over) he contacted pioneer technical and just so happened to have ordered by mistake a simular unit which would work. After a little chat with head office he done it to me for cost as it had been sat there taking up room for 7 months!!!

So I can now get on to the next step which is the indival remotely operated switching of each source to each screen:confused:

Still to arrive is my reserving camera

nd have given the sat nav a try. Raced it against a tomtom and the tomtom lost. Door to door from the Uk to Germany 1139 miles in 48 hours.

So here are the pictures as promised of what i have done. All I now have left to do is install a PS2 and stich up the bottom of the headrests.

I am going to have to make a custom housing for the rear view camera at the top of the rear screen where the high level brake light is on the V70. So this will not be ready for a while. I can live with out it for now.

absolutely brill mate how many hours did it take you in total to do the work

Lee
Thursday 24th August 2006, 17:24
Did it over 3 days a bit here and a bit there. Could be done on your own in about 2 days. If more than one person then in the same day.

Bugger, I was gonna say I will be selling my 6 disc DVD changer soon once my PC is sorted but you have already got one.

A nice trick for the rear mount camera is to drill a hole behind the number plate and mount the camera inside. Drill a matching hole in the plate inside one of the letters. Near invisible camera mounting.

I hope you have very dark tints or are planning on covering the changer with a box and carpet!

Most sites I have have touchscreen screens which are designed for PCs (have USB T/S control cable and D9 vga connector). For those sorts of screens (for use with a headunit) you will need screens with a yellow RCA plug.
