heater blower fan stopped working today

wires have melted on the -ve side
and the plug has melted into the houseing

firstly why the hell has thhis happened second does anyone know if you can get just the plugs

oh and hook the fan up to the battery it works fine

Lot of current to melt plastic. If the fuse didn't blow and you can get it to run by applying the voltage directly, I can only think the return path has a high resistance and is creating a heating effect in that part of the wiring loom. Check the resistance path to chassis.

just stripped bacj the connectors and put it all back together
and ran it for near on an houur full blast and didnt appear to be getting even warm

my thought is the conector was worn and breaking connection
irrc this will also cause heat up if its lots of very tint breaks in the connection
