 After getting head skimmed and refitted the engine still spat all its water out. Been told the engine was cooked so got another. Does anyone know if i will get anything for it? If so how much? It has the inlet and exhaust manifolds still and plastic engine covers. It ran ok still but lost all its water out the expansion tank.

Are you sure the engine is cooked? I have just replaced my engine and had the same problem - if the engine has been standing without water for sometime it takes at least an hour or so to allow the water to circulate and all the air out the system. If you just pour water in and cover the expansion tamk then it will act as thouhg it has overheated and spit it all out as there is nowhere else for the air to go.

You need to leave the tank open keep putting water in slowly at timely intervals and allow the atrapped air to get out. It may mean running the engine for a bit then as the water rises in the tank turn the engine off you will see all the air and a bit o water comming out.

Oh no its deff cooked the oil and water were mixing quite nicely to. I take it no one wants some spare engine parts from it then as no one has asked?

If I was closer I would have took it off your hands to strip down...

You really need to find out why it's still mixing, so you can determine if any of the parts are salvagable.
Did it blow up big style..Cracked Block..?
Head gasket still leaking...?
Cracked Head..?

I did a VW Passat with a friend of mine that was still leaking water into the engine. We took each spark plug out and using a torch we could see water drops leaking on to the piston top. We retook off the head and ther was a hairline crack near one of the valves..... Car running perfectly now..........so far.....:)

To tell you the truth im so fed up with it that i cant be bothered to take it apart again to see what up with it or not. I was hoping to sell it cheaply to someone who could make some use of it rather than just scrapping it.
