Maybe a daft question, but as a woodie, I don’t understand…Could someone please help.

I had the radio and climate control units out and unplugged from the car (of the p2) to wire in the tomtom. Then I had to move the car but when driving it only had lights and wipers (only the slow option worked) and no indicators. “SRS Warning. Service urgent” warning message came on and obviously stayed on for safety reasons.

Can someone please tell me why this has caused such interference with the major electrical system just by unplugging the climate control unit and starting the engine?

The SRS warning light comes on if you disconnect the heater/air-con controls without disconnecting the battery first. Don't ask me why. In Vadis it does warn you to disconnect the battery.
Just reset the code and it'll be fine.

Thank you for your reply.
I'm still trying to get to grips with the vadis system- its vast!

the reason is that the heater control panel is the gateway module for the whole network. phone fitters make this mistake all the time. if it doesnt reset after leaving the battery off for 1/2 hr, you need to pay the dealer to reset it and explain you disconnected the heater panel.......

I'll try that, thanks.

I know the code readers wont reset this sort of thing but I'm gonna have it checked over at the stealer to see what has been done and what needs doing to it at some time anyway.

Thanks again all.

Same thing here. removed the center console to fit extra toys and tomtom but only half finished. drove the car for half a day and noticed nothing worked without the center controls and then i got the air bag light on.

Required a trip to a specialist and £41.13 to read the error codes and reset. Before that, i went to a dealer for PAS fluid and asked for a price for diags, they wanted £80+VAT.

Next time disconect the battery.
