***SANTA POD****
Just thought I'd start a dedicated thread a RWYB event I'm going to. I sort of hijacked an earlier thread with the Auto Italia thing that I'm going to.

Anyway the weekend event is "Auto Italia" so it should be Lamborghini's and Ferrari's.....but it's going to be more like Fiats and Alfa's. I'm going as part of the Fiat X19 crowd (yes there even is an owners club for these cars too).

A few people below stated on the other thread that the may be interested in a VPCUK meet on the Sunday, which is a general RWYB day for everyone. I hope more of you can make it, cos it'll be the first performance outing for the judgemobilite.. I'm interested to find out just how much performance I've gained since playing....

Also, thanks BISON for reminding me that it is USC the weekend before, cos I'm hoping that this weekend will be quieter...(although I maybe going to USC now as a passenger)...

Here's the copied list :

AUGUST 13th 2006
1.Judgeninja
2.RandomGuy (Fiat X19)
2.T5ER - no problem if you've changed your mind or made other plans
3.Andrew - no problem if you've changed your mind or made other plans

Auto Italia 12th August & Camping over:
1. JudgeNinja
2. RandomGuy
Plus others.....

Anyone else fancy this date...?

no problem. i'm there all weekend and I'll be there till the end (as usual) the queue gets short very quickly after 3pm and I usually get 7-10 runs right at the end.....I'll enjoy myself with my own mini meet and I don't care if only 1 car turns up....:haha:

No promises for this one, but I have promised MissAlice another trip to Santa Pod and I have a mate who wants to go to one. He has an Escort Cossie though, so this meet may be a bit to Italian for him. I'll let you know one way orthe other.

I just thought I should put fingers to keys and let the world know about how this weekend went.....

Well as plans changed all the time it actually turned out that of all the North Wales petrol heads that I know, no-one was able to make it due to other commitments..:sorry:. but I had already booked this weekend off and I really wanted to get some banker runs with the new "super light machine"....So it just me and my car for the trip.

The Girlfriend had gone to Loughborough for the week so I thought rather than camping on site at Santa Pod, I'd spend the weekend in the warmth of a nice modern Flat, with local "fast food a plenty"...MMMMmmmm.....

I had the car weighed at the scrap metal merchant 1300kgs... it's 300kgs over what I want it to be in the end, but I'm quite happy that it is going in the right direction....

Saturday Was "AutoItalia" day. This is the premier Italian marque magazine so it promised Ferraris, Lamborghinis etc. The majority of cars were Fiats and Alfa Romeros. There was some De Tomaso Panteras (mmm nice cars), but very few cars actually took to the track. The queue very rarely went past the Zebra crossing near to the signing in office, which if you've ever been to a Normal RWYB day is quite shocking...

One of the fastest cars of the day was a Black Fiat coupe running on slicks managing a 12sec qtr This took one of the sponsored events winning £200 of vouchers. There was a bloke who had borrowed his dad's Masarati Quartroporte 5 (Spelling..?) managed a 15sec ...I wonder if he knows..?
I enjoyed myself and I got chatting to a few owners and I even found a friend who I didn't even know was going down, but he has a Fiat Coupe so it wasn't really that much of a shock...

Saturday night was spent with my Ex-boss who runs a BRISCA F1 Stockcar so I watched a bit of evening oval racing in Birmingham, With Fish and Chips on the way home...mmmmm....

Sunday..

I woke up to find rain.....:sorry: :sorry:   ...bugger that's my weekend ruined. For anyone who doesn't know Drag strips do not run if it is raining... So I wait and the rain starts to subside about 11am so I decided to make my way down in the vain hope that the track may be running, if not I could always fly over to Silverstone to see what's going on there..... I need not worry, cos just as I arrived the Sun came out and the track was being prep'd....so I waited......and waited...and waited....

The signing in office re-opened at 2pm and we were off.... My previous times recorded at Santa Pod/Avon park were 15.2 in standard mode and 14.9 with a borrowed RICA unit. My target for the weekend was to beat, or at least match the RICA time.

I started of quite well after three runs I called in at the office and picked up my slips :

15.018 @ 99.29mph
14.923 @ 99.53mph
14.983 @ 100.20mph

I'd finally broken the 100mph.... Also I had matched the 14.9 time set by my previous RICA'd time....that was my day done I didn't think I would do much better...maybe a tenth of so....how wrong could I be.....things just got faster and faster..

I did another four runs before collecting my slips. On the way I met up with a gentleman and his son, who commented "wow that tank's running well.. you've just managed a 14.4....!!" I was slightly shocked, but it was true..

14.358 @ 100.66mph
14.462 @ 100.87mph
14.484 @ 100.82mph
14.439 @ 100.48mph

That's half a second on my previous times.....(maybe I am a driving god after all).........

eeerrrrmmmm ...No..... I fluffed the next one wheel spinning in First and second, but I still managed a 15.043 @ 99.75mph...

Time was getting on a bit, I managed another three runs before they shut the track at 5:30pm. I then gained another MPH, any faster and I'll be wearing a crash helmet:

14.296 @ 101.29mph
14.364 @ 101.30mph
14.224 @ 101.17mph

So there you go, all my work had paid off. My enthusiasm for the work had dropped slightly with my driving ban and other things, but now I'm back in action, so with another 300kgs to loose off the car to get it under the magic 1000kg mark I'm off to the Garage with the grinder to attack the doors, boot and anything else I can remove. I'll be hitting Ebay for some seats at the end of the months.... JUST CALL ME SUPER SLIMMER.!!!!!!!

But It has got me thinking..... I wonder just how fast I could go with a Chip........mmmmm ? does anyone want to donate me one...?

See you lot at TRAX.....

great write up! :) sounds like fun, those times and terminals are very impressive!

Sooo... how much weight have you lost, what was your starting weight? I can't possibly imagine how you can shed another 300kg tho! good luck to you, it will be great see it on the track at Silverstone!

Adam.

Cheers for the offer again I'll have to get to another RWYB soon....if I hadn't just bought Suspension, tools and bits for other cars I'd be bringing a friend before the end of the month..........

Your offers are always at the wrong time for me...."Damn you Batman..!!!!"

As for Kgs :

Sunroof
Front seats
Door/boot inner structure
a few redundant brackets.....etc

I think I can get another 100kgs out, but I'm probably gonna struggle with the rest.... but it is a challenge....
