"Volvo 850 T-5R, 1996, taxed til september, nct til some time next year, its a 2.3 Turbo Intercooled 20v Twin cam, 250bhp standard, they go to 310 handy enough, They do 0-60 in just over 6 seconds and go on to 150mph.

It has a full Volvo history and has just been serviced last week by me, Full cream leather electric memory seat on drivers side, this car has had every option from new bar a sunroof, it has air con, electric windows/mirrors/seats, heated seats, child seat in the back, 16" T-5 wheels with near new Goodyear Eagle F-1's, lowered R-spec suspension from new, Auto box with switchable sport/economy/winter, i dont like auto's but this is a very nice box indeed, Trip computer, cruise control, twin front airbags which is rare they usually only have a drivers one and two side bags too, front fogs, rear spoiler, Premium Volvo 8 speaker sound system with a 6cd changer in the boot, what look like two 6x9 Volvo components in the parcel shelf, really nice sound, theres a detachable tow bar too.

Basically this is a really nice example, probably one of the nicest out there and goes like the clappers when you want it to. Forgot to add its only done 112k miles with servicing every 10k by Volvo with lots of receipts"

says the guy I'm looking at buying it from.

The price is DEFINITELY right. I know is that if this has all this documentation when I view it...it's a once in a lifetime deal. I'm going to Valhalla! Finally!

I'm glad your search appears to have ended.

Just two things, I'm sure some one more in the know will be able to answer the first. I thought T5-R's were all registered in the years 94 & 95. Also the fact that it's not got the orignial 17" Titan's is a shame as they are one of the defining factors of the T5-R and could end up costing you a fair bit if you feel the need to bring it back into original specification. If it was me, I'd like too know why they were changed.

What colour is it?

Hate to tell you but I dont think thats a T5R - sounds like T5 spec :(

Oh well lol. Pointing it at Rica will sort that out. Actually, I believe it's better that a stock T5 gets tuned - more power gains than the R. Pics will arrive later so I'll point it at you guys. Losing the R (if so...) will definitely please Hibernian General Insurances lol

Rs appeared in 96 too - mine was a 96.

Pics and VIN will help confirm if a true T-5R.

T5-R and R are different models though. 96 & 97 were the years of the R.

I still worry about the wheels and what colour is it?

I think the fact it has full cream leather ( as opposed to part amaretta part leather ) , 16 " wheels it is looking towards a T5 and not an R version. However it is mucuch for muchness here, you will be getting crackin spec, same engine ( get a remap and its the same power ) and you could source 17s or 18s later for it if you fancy it ... sound the biz anyway!!!

the wheel size should be an indicator but my 850R came with 16" comets originally...

Check the VIN number and engine number this should give it away. Some madman may have decided he wanted full leather instead of the other seats.

Check out adrian flux insurance, and allow about 700gbp to upgrade the ECU , flat panel filter from ITG, spark plugs , distributor and leads.

My T-5R was a early 96.... they switched to 850Rs afterwards yes.... but the cut off line wasn't Midnight 95-96 :)

Pictures. sorry, I was at work. God, even if it's not a T5R, it's still SOME car for the money, with a FSH. Just needs bushings..sure I'll be fiddling with the suspension anyway

^^^ What he said, its a T5. Its obviously not worh as much to buy as an R is and I would bear that in mind when you make the guy and offer

Like they all said. Not the elusive t5r.

One of the easiest ways to tell if its an original believe it or not is to check the finer detail...like the sticker inside the fuel cap, Ronseal and all that...

I'm not a hundred percent stressed. i'd nearly rather get just a T5, as they're easy enough to get even MORE power out of, and at least I'm getting a well-cared-for T5, rather than a ragged R. not so?

A good T5 over a poor T5R will always be the better choice

Just spake with the owner :

ABS ECU is possibly dead, either that or it's a rear wheel sensor, but either way, no big panic. Until neeeeext year.

And about the T5-R-ness. Apparently the original guy ordered a T5R, but was sent a T5 CD, with an R spec ECU and exhaust system :D. Either way...it's a hell of a deal

The owner is me! Hello liam!

Yeah i was pretty much told the same story when i bought it a couple of months back, it turns out it is a T5 CD spec but she's got everything fitted, I was told it had the R spec ECU but this could be wrong, if your gonna chip it it makes no difference anyway, Still it is a mint example with fsh all for 3k how can you go wrong...

flyinglemur

Hey dude.

You can't. You can just go to the bank/credit union/parents...even selling my body on the street would be an option :o. Anyway, Hibernian won't care what ECU it is, they probably JUST about know what a T5 is. "jaze, what them garda* over the wather drive".

*= An Garda Siochana - the fuzz. They are largely a fake police force, they don't have police powers, as the UK police do, but a much nicer bunch of blokes on the whole. Oh, and they try to catch stolen Porsches and ferraris with Hyundai Accents ?!!!!! And have a sum total of TWO helicopters for somewhere the size of England
