Hi, can anyone help with this please. Yesterday the glovebox decided to lock itself and refused to let me in regardless, i think the mechanism broke somewhere between the handle and the catch. Eventually i managed to open it with both hands wedged in the gap and pulling with force enough to get a pair of pliers in to release he catch. In doing so i have damaged the door inside and need a replacement.Can i change the lock onto a new one to avoid having two keys and does anyone know where there might be a spare, I tried The parts gateway and they came back with a price of nearly fifty quid !!! I only want the door or do you need to replace the internal box as well?

Thanks for that ,seems like a common fault then. Sods law that this was the only time we had a set of keys in there for our other car and needed them there and then !
Anyway now i need a new door !:cussing:

i have one but it has 2 of the lugs for the screws snapped off at the back

but you should be ok with it
i only changed mine cause i saw one going begging

Thanks for the offer, what colour do you have? i have seen the one on Ebay and its even the right colour, luck or what?
I still can't believe i was quoted nearly fifty quid from a salvage yard!

is it the facia you have damaged or just the back part?

The back of the lid is broken where i forced it open and the internal mechanism is buggered but the front of the lid is good.

I've got an internal glove box mechanism thingy for sale at:

But this is for a S70, not sure if it's applicable to the 850.
