A/C controls

Has anyone ever relocated the aircon/heater controls?
I want to swap the stereo and A/C positions, for reasons I wont go into now.

Baj, the unit just pulls out - if it is climate control - no problems moving it down as there is mainly an electrical connector.

The reason I ask is that the spindles the knobs attach to (the knobs you pull off to get to the torx screws to remove the unit) seemed pretty firm and remain in place after removal of the CC unit.
I was worried they might be fixed in semi perminently
