Any ideas. I had a crack at cleaning it up with a dremel but I am not convinced.
Thinking about giving up and just flat it off and send it to be chrome plated?

i sanded mine down using a black & decker mouse to start, then went to rough sand paper by hand & keep doing it using finer & finer sand paper everytime (i ended up using 1200) then brasso & bufff it to get the final shine

Yeah but you have to admit that a lot of the time the bonnet is open! Anyway all my mechanical mods are finished now. Bit of tarting up is all I have left! :rolling_e

Dave,if you have a spare one send it to me and I will buf it up for ya. I have a 9 inch buffing wheel on a bench grinder, and some buffing compound. Makes it sooo easy.
