Ahhh - Thank God...
The Volvo Started short cycling last year and I just never got around to getting it re-gassed. It was one of those things I just kept saying - "I'll do it as soon as I've got a spare minute"...
The short cycling stopped about 3 weeks ago and from that point on, whenever the AC button was pressed, there was no change in temp and the compressor didn't kick in or "click" at all.
I called Volvo Hamilton and they wanted £85 plus VAT to re-gass the system, telling me that 'the gentleman' that does their re-gassing wouldn't be avaliabe until 10 days later. A little put off having to wait 10 days and being told a simple re-gass would cost around £100, I booked the Volvo in anyway (appointment was for this morning at 10:30am).
However, I became bored waiting and three days ago, I called an Air Conditioning Specialist just along the road from Volvo Hamilton and he quoted me £50 to check the system, clear out all the old crap and re-gass it. I happily agreed. So, this morning at 9am, I drove 3 miles to the local Land Rover garage and met the Air Con Specialist guy.
Whilst he carried out the work to my car, we started the small chat and I happened to mention that I had booked the S70 into Volvo Hamilton for today around 10:30am. He laughed out loud and told me that he was the same gentleman that Volvo Hamilton hire to come in and do all the Air Con work for them!
Baaah Ha ha ha - So by making a quick phone call on Friday, I saved myself £50 and it was the same guy that would have done it an hour later if I hadn't cancelled my appointment with Volvo!
Oh - The S70 is now nice and chilly inside. Me and the missus tested it by driving to Falkirk today, parking in a sun drenched car park, we had lunch for an hour and then came out to a boiling hot S70! We started the beast up and within 10 seconds, there was icy, Eskimo like air coming out of the climate controlled vents...
I love my Volvo :saythat:
