T5R-Bonnet Jammed Shut

I can't get to the engine bay as the bonnet is jammed shut. I want to try and open it myself first before i get a professional in who'll certainly take me to the cleaners!!!

I think the cable may have streched/snapped

Can anyone help offer some tips??

It is unusual that both catches should jam. Has it been working OK till now, or was it "sticky"?

Suggest getting a friend to operate the lever whilst offering gentle assistance to the leading edge of the bonnet. Push up and down. Use rocket WD40 with the straw and poke and squirt into the lock mech. (see pic for offside location)
on both sides


You may also wish to take the kick panel above the pedals (3 torx screws) to check the integrity of the cable.

I am not saying this will sort the problem - but it is worth having a go before you take it to a garage.

One of the catches on my bonnet has torn which aparently a common problem. It means you have to pop the catch, go out and move the leaver undewr the bonnet then go and pop the catch again.
Be careful as it is easy to bend the bonnet
