OK fellow East Anglians. Let's push the boat out and welcome the boat in.

Peter (S60T5) is coming over all the way from Sweden to get a bumper from Tomcat...(see thread http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthread.php?t=10965). He is docking at Harwich on the morning of 2nd July. As his port of call is Suffolk/Essex, we should try and arrange a little welcoming party before he heads off down south, eventually heading north to Tomcat. We have a reasonable membership in this area now and it's not going to be some full scale meet-up as Peter has to move on. I'm thinking, welcome and a quiet coke in some local country pub, give Peter some route advice for his trip and then wave him on his way safe and sound.

Reply on this thread if you are interested in "Shaking hands with Sweden".

He seems a decent sort of chap, sure he will accommodate most of your wishes.
I seem to recall, in another thread, he offered to bring some dark headlights and rear lights if anyone wanted them, maybe there is something you desire, that is cheaper in Gothenberg?

If there is something you fancy, have a chat.

We'll go down anyway, Dicky........ and Tracey I assume? Can't have our Swedish Branch land in England without a good helping of OVLOV can we.

Come on Boys 'n' Girls. Peter has updated his travel details and is expected into Harwich at about 8 o'clock. The chances are it's gonna be a pleasant Mid-Summer evening, lot's of late evening sunshine, a little country pub's beer garden and a foreigner to poke fun at his football team (only joking Peter). I know there are a few more members who can show for the arrival of the Scandinavian Chapter of VPCUK. We Eastern Angles are closely related to these chaps, so let's get something together for the welcoming of Peter.

This is more then welcome from my side.
I really need some pointers and guidelines when it comes to driving on the lefthand side of the road. :)
Only done it once before, up in Troon...

Please don´t take me to a football-pub (If Sweden manages to win the game tonight) I do want to live to tell the tale, of the journey to England and back.:) Just kidding, I do have english blood in my vains as well.

I´ll be docking in Harwich Friday the 30´th of june at 8:00 (20:00) in the evening. Coming from Hoek Van Holland with Stena-Line ferrys.

I can´t thank you guys and girls enough for making this tripp a memorable one. And if any of you deccide to go to the land of the Volvo´s, let me know and I´ll try and arrange something similar.

Well, only a couple of hours left until game-time. I´ll just head on home from work and have dinner, then it´s time to get a beer or two watching the game.
Mey the best team win.

Bye for now mates/matetets :) Peter Larsson

At the moment, the idea is for a "meet and greet" when the boat docks. I think Peter is going down to Bexhill at some stage, then up to Wigan. I doubt he will have much time for a weekend meet.

Hi guys.

Matt is completely right. I´ll be docking on friday at 8 in the evening.
Somewhere around that time would be more then great.
When we consider ourselves done with the meeting I´ll be heading down to Bexhill.
I´ll go from Bexhill up to Wigan on saturday evening/sunday morning. Depending on how long time the driving will take.
And on sunday I´m looking forward to seeing Tomcat and some other VPCUK members in the north-west area.

Best regards // Peter Larsson

There we go, all answered nicely. I think grab an hour or so with Peter and talk some Volvo Sweden, a few UK driving tips and directions then a wave bye bye. Not the longest meet in history but as we will be the first VPCUK members he will be meeting it would be nice to have some form of presence when he arrives. Should be able to ogle his "sassy" lights too.

Now It´s less then 24 hours before I´m on my way.
I´ve managed to squeeze in a visit at Heico Sportive close to Frankfurt.
But I´ll go with the boat as planed. But there will be no beerdrinking in Germany... I hoped that Sweden would still be in the WC...
Well well, good luck to you all.

Maby we will see eachother on friday the 30´th of june at about 8 in the evening.

Had a look at your PM concerning the additional ATF cooler. You'll be better off buying the OEM one from Volvo TBH. My setup is not financially viable these days.

Little update for this Meet 'n' Greet.
Date now set for Friday 30th June at 20.00 hrs ( 8 o'clock for those not familiar) at Harwich International. We don't intend keeping the chap long, just a few cokes and a chat. Attendee's are listed below ( hope I don't run out of room). Come on Boys and Girls, surely we can spare an hour on a Friday evening for Peters welcome.

Well the lad is in the country, what a very pleasant chap he is too. Some car he's got there!
Dicky and myself met Peter at Harwich on Friday evening. A drop of CocaCola, a good look at the map (kindly donated by Dicky), a few driving tips ( drive on the left) and it was time to wave Peter off down the A12 towards London and hopefully Bexhill. I do hope he made it as it is his first time driving over here. Everyone keep an eye out for Peter Larsson, he will be the Swede in the green Volvo, putting another litre of oil in the engine, reading the map while he's driving and flying a Germany flag from his car????

Good luck on the remainder of your mammouth journey Peter, it's been a pleasure to meet you and don't forget, It's your turn to welcome us next time.

Thanks mates!!!

What a welcome!!! Thank you lads, can't put down in words how much your help meant to me. Awsome guys both Matt and Dicky.
Thanks for the map, and the guidelines, they helped me getting everywhere I was supposed to go.
I must say that the police in England is most helpful. I got an Police-escort from the city-center of Bexhill to my grannys house.
Last time I was in Bexhill I flew with Ryanair, and used the train from Wictoria station to Bexhill. From there I was picked up, that's why I didn't know the way by car...
At about 3 o'clock at night I got tired of searching for the right road. I saw a policecar and used my warning-lights. He pulled up right next to me and asked if something was wrong. I told him that I was looking for my grannys place, and didn't know the way...
He gave the station a call, they found the address and he said follow me.

Matt and Dicky, sorry but no one of my familimembers has got a computer at home... :cuckoo: Now I'm at the Holliday inn Headock Jct 23.

Thanks again blokes for a really warm english welcome!!! When you are coming over, just give me a shout and I'll be there!

Best regards // Peter Larsson
