Never been a big fan of the S80 especially compared to the S60. It's looks more like an American sedan in my eyes. The S60 on the other hand just looks stubbier with almost a sporty style to it. I have to say my opinion has changed recently after someone at my place bought a blue S80 and it looks mean (old shape). It's got full black leather interior, has been lowered and is riding on a set of Nebulas which really make a difference. The car could be RICAd as the licence plate reads XXX R C A.

Looking at the VT site I didn't realise the power in the T6 and even in the D5
Chipped to 325bhp is a nice increase with 210 available from the diesel.

Has anyone driven both these cars in RICA format? What's the S80 like to drive? Is it too big? I'm assuming the handling is much better in the S60??

If anyone has a stage 2 tune on it I'd love to hear about it :hail:

Cheers
K

The S80 is a different drive to the S60, and is definately designed as a long distance motorway cruiser (not that the S60 isn't good at that either!!)

However, from a tuning perspective, the S80 T6 is a bit of an odd ball mainly due to it's inline 6 twin turbo. Other than an ECU upgrade and full exhaust system, everything else would normally be a custom job, such as turbos etc, because there isn't a big aftermarket demand for it. Volvo didn't sell many of these, which might explain why.

Personally, I would go for the S60 unless you have a specific reason to want the S80 (in which case go for the diesel :)).

Difficult to find pictures of a nice looking S80 although I might take a quick picture of the one at work.

Yeah I think I'd probably go for the S60 too I've had enough of the barge like handling with my C70!!

Actually it looks a lot like this one:

Hi,

We have an S80 and have owned an S60. I find the S80 much more comfortable but the S60 is sportier. (As was Volvo's intention). Personally I would take the S80. The current models look lovely with the Nebula's, and black Egg-crate grille.

Then again an S60-R isn't bad either ;)

Having just been out on a drive - S60 T5 all day long. Fab - 5 stars. And you can have one with the 4C system if you like.

I have an S80 T6 with a Rica tune.

The tune makes the whole world of difference. It goes like stink.

The handleing is a bit pants though. Great in a straight line and brill for overtaking but feels like your driving a boat if you try to go round corners too quick. Its not dangerous really (DSTC) it just makes all your passengers feel sick.

Ah. Nebulas. Most of mine are outside the local Co-Op. Stuck to the kerb.

I have an S80 V 8 Sport - what a great drive, a real high speed cruiser, great off the mark, fantastic overtaking, a little strange to get used to on the twisty bits even with adaptive chasis - mind you my other cars are 2 MINI JCW GPs which thrive on the twisties.

311 BHP AWD goes like stink from a standing start with no wheel spin / traction control cutting in.

Adapative cruise is a really usefull toy - taking some getting used to with the car speeding up and slowing down all on its own, but excellent in areas of average speed cameras.
