its allways been the way, at volvo we refer to them all with a specific code


854 = 850 4 door saloon
855 = 850 estate
874 = S70
875 = V70 classic shape
872 = C70 Coupe
873 = C70 Convertable
285 = New shape V70 (p2)
184 = S80
364 = S60
295 = XC70
275 = XC90
644 = S40 (old)
645 = V40
544 = New S40
545 = V50

these are the official volvo model codes, as inputed into VIPS when ordering software for example.

lmao, though i suppose thats the exception to the rule of the number of doors. its more of a way to identify between the coupe and the cab, though no harm in climbing in and out over the door if your that nimble :D
