What would you expect an 854R auto, with standard spec average fuel consumption be? Driving 'sensibly'?

I get 24-25 855 T5 Mixed driving 50% motorway/50% other. I actually think I get better (say 1-2 mpg) better economy in sport mode. My theory is that the gearbox in sport mode allows the engine to use its most efficient (mid range) band rather than labouring in higher gears and making the driver put his foot down harder on the accelerator to achieve the same level of performance. I have also found that driving like a ponce makes no difference at all. Once again my economy has been better since I've been accelerating a bit quicker to get to cruising speed.

Roger

PS I might see you some time...I'm up around J28 3 times a week (Met Green 850 Estate with VPCUK sticker in the back:)

I agree with the sports mode comment. I thought perhaps my computer was erratic as I seemed to get more mpg in sports mode.
Also find it amusing when I come to North Island. I fill up with optimax and, based on recent driving get a reading of , say 300 miles to an empty tank. Get on the motorway (which we don't of course have over here) and I'm told I've got 450 miles on the same amount of fuel.
Fuel here is dearer than over there and we can't even compensate with motorway economy!

I was once on a course on the mainland and a quiz to help us to gel included the question " Who comes from over the water?". My island colleague summed it up when she said that everyone came from over the water except her and Harry!

sport mode it is from now on- it just means that I will have a daft grin longer!
Anyone know if a cone filter as apposed to an upgraded panel filter makes any change with the fuel use?
