Hi, i've managed to persuade someone to join the volvo crew!:thewave: Hes 18 aswell and doesnt want to pay the insurance for a t5. We drove a n/a 2.4 today but it wasnt quite pokey enough :B_steerin and a bit dodgy imho.

Just wondering what the take is on the 2.4t? Also what sort of power can you get from it by chipping and etc? Also anything specific to look out for one when buying?

Thanks alot, Dave

Seems like its 193bhp to 235bhp with a rica.

i would say to price up insurance on both the 2.4T and the T5... only 1 group between them to be honest, so may not be a huge difference?

When was 19 was about £200 difference between the 2.4t and the T5, 2.4t's are a really nice drive, very smooth but are very rare and naturally not as tuneable.

They are nice to drive. You should use 98 RON super in them all the time as they are very sensitive to fuel grade, more so than the T5. As Aftershock says, not the most tuneable in standard form, but is generally quicker off the mark and round town than the T5.

i'd recommend a 2.4T... with RAC the insurance for young drivers is low.. they wouldn't quote me for a T5.

Yeah, my mate did a quote on my 854 t5, £3k but on a 2.4t c70 its only £1150 fully comp. I'll get him to do a quote on a C70 t5 just to see as there's only 40bhpish difference. And i want him to get a saffron GT!!!
Dave
oh yeah and not forgetting RICA 310!!

When buying lookout for the following:
Aircon
Rear Oil Main
Test Gear Box if auto (colour of oil etc)
Regular maintenance

Tip on insurance, avoid the Gt's at all costs and also the Gs's to a lesser extent as they hike up the insurance costs for some reason.

if you get the 3 CD front loader (SC901/SC900) - make sure it works properly.

Will do! They wont even quote him on a T5 but are dead good on a 2.4t??? Terribly odd. I think he'll also pop up to get it RICA'd when i can finally afford to have mine done!

Was just looking at the 2.0T. With the RICA its only 10bhp short of the 2.4T with the RICA. What would peoples opinions be on getting a 2.0T and just having that RICA'd?

Cheers, Dave
