What should the idle speed be for an 850 T5 auto?
The one I have here idles with the needle dead on 1k rpm. Seems high, no?
Thanks for helping me with this one...

Should be about 850 rpm. If it's high then you've probably got an inlet air leak.

Yeah, that is weird. I wonder how accurate these rev counters are?
Could always plug my PC in I suppose...

Mine is idling at 1000rpm Cold and Running Temp.
Time to check some pipes?

My T5 runs just under 1k rpm idle speed hot or cold. See Piccy this is while it was cold!
I think i can remember reading somewhere that its usually between 850 - 950 rpm.

It could be the coolant temp sensor also as that sends a singal to the ECU to adjust Idle Speed

It goes like stink and pulls a good vacum on th in-dash gauge but I guess it could be wrong.
My revs also stick a little too when changing from 1st to 2nd but could just be me as im not use to this car yet.

On test at an MOT station my car ticks over always around 850rpm but looking at the dash you would say it was 1000rpm. I am always searching for leaks aswell to see if they are causing a high tick over. My car seems to run well so I am slowly learning to live with it.
